Artist Biography

Margot Dermody (b. Takoma Park, MD) is a painter and sculptor based in Pittsburgh, PA. Her work is currently featured in Presence at Mark Rengers Gallery in Sewickley, PA, on view September 10–October 24, 2026.

Recent exhibitions include Gathered Locally (2026) at Pittsburgh Glass Center; Collective Gestures (2025), Smallworks (2024), and Fluid (2023) at Mark Rengers Gallery; Held Together (2025), presented by Visionary Art Collective; and Believing in Tomorrow (2024) and Bodies (2024) with PxP Contemporary.

Her solo exhibitions include Light Through Stone with Women United Art Movement (2023) and The Way of Peace, Forward and Back, presented through Art in the Courthouse in Pittsburgh (2022–2023). She has also exhibited at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Gallery, Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, and the Westmoreland Museum of American Art.

Dermody participated in the Artist Residency Program at Pittsburgh Glass Center in 2021 and continues to work there as a studio artist. Through an intuitive process of building, carving, and refining, she explores light, movement, material, and emotion. Her paintings and sculptures invite viewers to pause, notice, and feel both calm and alive.
